What constitutes UFO evidence? – Part 5

By admin On July 14th, 2009

There is a good deal of contention and confusion over what constitutes real evidence of Unidentified Flying Objects. Much of what is accepted has to do with the group or organization that is looking at the data, and what they think is valid proof.

Let’s not mistake the fact that any evidence, from personal observation to physical evidence, is real UFO evidence. However the type of evidence and how it was acquired is what gives one piece of data more weight than another.

We can look at the kinds of data that have been gathered, to get a better idea about this.

By far, the majority of UFO data is from direct eyewitness observation. This actually defines the general meaning of UFO. If I see something that is flying and cannot say what it is, it is a UFO by definition. Obviously, this isn’t what most people think of when they think about UFOs. After all, if I am not a trained observer and can’t tell one aircraft from another, my observation won’t mean much, from a serious research standpoint.

This brings the importance of credibility to the forefront. Many sightings have been reported and documented by police officers, military personnel, pilots, clergy, and others who would be considered very credible witnesses. Interestingly, many of these reports are so well detailed that they would easily be admissible in a court of law if the topic were murder instead of UFO observation.

Photographic and electronic evidence is also part of the data. A large number of pictures, including motion pictures, have been taken of UFO phenomenon. Sound and radar recordings have also been produced. There is still an issue of credibility with this sort of data, however, since such data can and often has been faked. It usually takes a good deal of careful expert analysis to determine if the data is real.

There is also physical data involved. Though not as common, some items have been gathered which defy our technology to produce or reproduce. Some supposed landing sites have been shown to contain radioactivity at higher levels than they should. People, plants, and animals have occasionally shown various reactions or traumas after having a UFO encounter. Each of these is physical evidence.

The gathering of the data must also be considered when weighing how valid the evidence is. Just as with a crime scene, the data can become tainted if poor collection methods are used. It also needs to be understood that faked data, though not valid, is still evidence and it should be considered as such until it is proven to be invalid.

In each case, there is an indication that the encounter or sighting really happened, and that the evidence exists that supports the belief that the occurrence is real. How strong that evidence is, though, again depends on who is viewing it and the kind of evidence or combination of kinds of evidence, that is involved.

UFO sightings… – Part 2

By admin On July 14th, 2009

UFO Sightings have taken place in every corner of the globe. Many people claim that they have had sightings. There were over 1,400 sightings in the year 2008 in the United States of America alone. Around the world, there were approximately 20,000 reported sightings. People have been reporting sightings in 2008 since New Years Day. Even in the beginning of 2009, there have been 95 UFO reported sightings already in the United States alone. There is no telling as to how many sightings have taken place in total around the world. As the sightings get more frequent, people are beginning to fear that these sightings are happening because of the Mayan calender prediction of the world ending in the year 2012.

Some people have claimed to have felt some sort of sensation when they had their UFO sighting, as if it inspired them. Although there haven’t been many people who said that, Ufologists are taking this claim into consideration, as they believe that anything is possible when dealing with Extraterrstrial Beings. Shows that are taking place all across the world are bringing the spotlight on this controversial subject known as unidentified flying objects (UFO).

A new website dedicated to reporting every UFO sighting that takes place in the year 2009 was recently created and will probably be up for sell in 2010. This probably came into play because many countries around the world are beginning to release their UFO files, showing every UFO sighting that took place during last year and 2007. The claims are that these countries believe that it’s time for the truth. As these files begin to become public, it raises suspicions as to if this is some sort of way to throw the public off or to expose the truth that Extraterrestrial Beings do in fact exist.

Sightings are like birds in the sky nowadays, people seem to have sightings nearly everyday. Compared to 2007, the 2008 UFO reports in the United States of America have multiplied 6 times as much since 2007. That’s making a very bold statement. Maybe people are making false reports, or the reports may be real. Nevertheless, these reports are getting international attention, and are being taken extremely seriously. There have been many forms of evidence to show that UFO’s exist such as crop circles, UFO photography, and even alleged Extraterrestrial Being interview caught on tape. This evidence seems to point in the favor of the believers, although there is no hardcore evidence to finally prove that they are in fact real. Remember, the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

Famous UFO hoaxes – Part 1

By admin On July 14th, 2009

It is very hard to distinguish between fact and fiction when you are talking about UFO’s. Most of the time it ends with the word of mouth. Evidence rarely turns up, and we are forced to believe what we want to believe. UFO hoaxes have been uncovered throughout the years leaving many people embarrassed. In my opinion there is only one hoax that has made it to an ultimate famous level. It is a story that made millions of people believe in aliens. It’s the story that captured thirty countries and captivated many experts. I am of course speaking of the alien autopsy footage released in 1995.

August 28, 1995 millions of people would sit in front of their televisions and tune into the Fox network as an actual extraterrestrial laid in front of the camera, ready for dissection. No one could believe it. After fifty years of lies and cover ups, they would finally be able to see a UFO. What they did not know is that the whole film clip was a hoax.

Alien Autopsy: Fact of Fiction was film footage that was supposedly taken in 1947 from the Roswell Base after an alien space craft crashed. The film taken was in black and white and never once showed the actual autopsy that it had promised. The movie that was released to Fox had a lot of commentaries, and not enough footage. The film supposedly was checked by Kodak to make sure it was in fact taken in 1947. Later Kodak told the press that they had never been contacted to do this. They also said that they would be happy to test the film, but no one ever came forward. Experts also found it odd that the film was in black and white when color was in use during 1947. They also were suspicious at the camera work. The entire film was hand held and rather shaky. The military would have been more professional and used a stand.

The man who bought the film was a film producer based in London. His name was Ray Santilli and he was more than excited over his new findings. Everyone bought into the film and watched it in over 30 countries. The guy made a lot of money. For the experts it was easy to see the flaws, but people really wanted to believe it.

In 2006 Max Headroom, a popular announcer in the 80’s, came forward with the real story that turned success into a gigantic hoax overnight. Headroom admitted that he was part of the alien autopsy hoax and that the film was never taken from Roswell. He stated that they filmed the footage at a flat in Camdin which is near London. He also admits that it wasn’t from 1947, but from 1995. Max Headroom wasn’t the only one involved. Several others including Santilli helped place everything together. They created the alien with rubber and stuffed it with animal organs. When they were finished filming the dummy was cut up and thrown into the water.

When reporters tracked down Santalli he quickly stated that he had genuine footage, but it was badly damaged. He wanted people to see what the footage would have been like with a reenactment. Just recently a man has come forward that admitted to filming a similar version back in 1995 which he tried to sell to Santalli. Santalli turned it down and tried filming his own version which is the one we know today.

Santalli was able to fool a lot of people including scientists and historians. Many people wanted to believe that it was real footage. We were betrayed with fancy film work and special effects. It took eleven years before anyone came forward, and in those eleven years there were still a lot of people who thought it was a real UFO. The movie gained a lot of attention and a lot of money making this story UFO’s number one hoax.

UFOs: A scientific point of view – Part 4

By admin On July 14th, 2009

UFO’s, scientifically evaluated, should not necessarily mean just debunking. Skepticism, as a form of agnosticism, is viable. But even sooner or later an agnostic has to either become a believer or a non-believer. Therefore, healthy skepticism, not heavily influenced by debunking is fine towards either proving or disproving aspects of UFOlogy, but not all of it. Many people do misperceive Venus, stars, satellites, aircraft (experimental or not) and celestial phenomena such as meteorites as UFO’s, becoming wildly excited that they have seen a real UFO-usually fuelled by overactive imaginations-and not active scrutiny.

But increasingly, as people become better educated towards UFO’s and far more aware of mundame phenomena, misperceptions have and increasingly become less likely. The role of science shouldn’t be that all unusual phenomena are mundane. Science demands proof, hard evidence and the such, yet many skeptics refuse to look any deeper than the surface. They don’t see the evidence, for there is no evidence…ever. Debunking, part of Humanistic beliefs, sees humanity as the center of the universe. Even though, paradoxically, they will freely admit to other intelligent life forms existing in the universe, because hard science can’t dismiss it for mathematical probabilities state it exists.

Science does demand hard proof of UFO’s…and with all fairness some skeptics and debunkers are becoming more open to the reality that UFO’s may exist. Constantly blaming it on mundane events becomes increasingly harder and harder to hold water in a more enlightened and knowledgeable society. But still scientists demands hard proof that can stand the tests of science. UFOlogy has unfortunately been tainted by frauds, fakers and gurus, which has caused a great deal of the rolling of the eyes of scientists. Hard scientists like Stanton T. Friedman and others, who have dedicated their lives to doing their own ‘tough’, but far more open investigations into the UFO phenomena.

Debunkers have gone out of their way to attack anything associated with UFO’s. They stipulate that there is nothing to the UFO phenomena, using Einstein’s theories as a main supporting buttress. They say light speed can’t be breached, for it taking more energy than the universe could produce to do it, following the Einstein mathematical formula e=mc2. One debunker told me that even God could not travel at the speed of light. God?! I thought supernatural beings did not exist
