Extraterrestrial life: Fact or fiction – Part 4

By admin On July 28th, 2009

“Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of inert facts.”

-Henry Adams, American Novelist and Historian

Modern belief in extraterrestrial life and UFO’s all began back on June 24, 1947 when pilot Kenneth Arnold observed disk-shaped aircraft flying near Mount Rainier, Washington. As the years past the sightings continued, and government investigations concluded nothing unusual was going on and gave the same explanations time and time again. However, reports from those who don’t buy the governments explanations and the opinions of some dissenting prominent insiders have continued to elevate the interest in the phenomenon. But does extraterrestrial life exist? I am a skeptic and I will lay out my case as to why I am as such.

First, we can use calculations and go on probability (starting with the 72 sextillion or 7 X 10 to the 22nd power, stars in the observable universe) and the numbers will come out in favor that you may very well find life on another system. Having said that though, using calculations to come up with probabilities of something happening is still just that…a probability and not an exact science.

Secondly, what about the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence or SETI? It has been over 30 years since volunteer, Dr. Jerry R. Ehman, scribbled his famous phrase of “WOW” over a strong signal printout and SETI has produced nothing significant since (or before the WOW signal, in fact) then. SETI, is in fact, considered by many, as nothing more than UFOlogy or the study of UFOs considered to be pseudoscience by many in the scientific community. Even those who were once highly supportive of SETI have been forced to re-evaluate their position. For example, Peter Schenkel, while remaining a supporter of SETI, has written that “in light of new findings and insights, it seems appropriate to put excessive euphoria to rest and to take a more down-to-earth view…We should quietly admit that the early estimates-that there may be a million, a hundred thousand, or ten thousand advanced extraterrestrial civilizations in our galaxy – may no longer be tenable.”

Third, what about Roswell? For all the excitement Roswell has produced there is little to back it up. One of the biggest problems for Roswell supporters is the problem with all the witness accounts is that they all came a minimum of 31 years after the Roswell events in question, and in many cases were recounted more than 40 years after the fact. Memories that have sat idle in one’s head for that amount of time are of questionable reliability but are also subject to contamination from other accounts they may have heard through through the three to four decades before coming forward. The eyewitnesses are just the tip of the iceberg in the case of Roswell but thats a whole other argument for another article.

In ending, there is a lot of speculation that alien life exists but little proof to actually back it up. A fact is something that can be proved and/or that is subject to falsification using the scientific method…the belief in extraterrestrials is neither fact nor fiction because there is no solid evidence in either direction. The bottom line is this: believers are going to believe in big-headed but little bodied spacemen no matter what and th skeptics are not going to believe in extraterrestrials until they land their starcraft flush on the 50 yard line during the middle of the Superbowl.

What constitutes UFO evidence? – Part 3

By admin On July 28th, 2009

If one were being interrogated or questioned regarding a UFO sighting, the description of the UFO would be taken in to consideration and all others aspects regarding the sighting. How close one was to the UFO, would be critical, because a more descriptive explanation could be given regarding the sighting.

Over the years of sightings, there has been no hard physical evidence or proof that Unidentified Flying Objects exist. All accounts of sightings that are reported to the media have not unearthed any hard facts that UFO’s or aliens, as most associate with UFO’s, are present or ever were on this Earth.

Pictures of sightings of UFO’s have been taken over the years and shown on national television, but not solid evidence, due to the quality of the photo and the positioning of the camera lens. If UFO’s have entered in to United States air space, they would be traveling at a high velocity, which would make it almost impossible to get a clear picture. One would have to know the exact time and point of entry to have the right lens to get a clear picture.

Hypnosis has been another method of accumulating evidence to prove alien abduction from UFO’s. Although much information has been accumulated over the years through hypnosis regarding UFO sightings and abductions, no physical evidence has been established. Without physical evidence, as in any case study, it is merely hear say and soon forgotten.

True evidence would have to be physical, such as a foreign material not found on this planet and liken to a spacecraft. Evidence from UFO’s, if being concealed from the world, would definitely be physical or metal in nature.

The belief that Crop Circles are evidence of UFO landings on our planet is still being disputed and inconclusive, as no hard physical evidence has been obtained from any of the locations.

My sighting of a UFO at the age of six would be dismissed as childish imaginations. It was not a plane. It was not a helicopter. It was not a balloon. It was not a jet. What it was I do not know, but it was very shiny and cylindrical in shape and hovered in the air for a very long time. So long that my brothers and sisters and I became frightened and ran to the house. It stayed there for a very long time and we would look out the window every once in a while to see if it was still there. Of course, my Uncle was there and made matters worse by saying, “The aliens are coming to get you”.

The object finally disappeared and never returned. But, there is no hard evidence to support what I saw. My sisters would be considered witnesses. But, it’s like an age-old story you tell around the fire ring when you are camping that has no meaning or relevance other than the entertainment it provides at that moment.

What to do if you see a UFO – Part 1

By admin On July 28th, 2009

If you ever see a UFO, the first thing to do is not panic. Panicking can make you imagine and fill in gaps in your mind to make it look like your seeing something else when in reality it is not. If you have a camera, phone, or even a sheet of paper, try to take evidence of the UFO. If you have a phone, try to take video of it as well. Remember details such as, time of occurrence, the details of the UFO, and the location. This information will be crucial later on if trying to file a UFO sighting.

Now, not everyone in this world has or will ever see a UFO in reality. Safety will be the primary concern though. For example, if your stuck in the middle of nowhere and just see a UFO hovering over your car, get away from that situation. Don’t try to approach it, most abduction stories occur when people are alone from large populated areas, so try to get to a nearby store, town, or house. Always try to obtain evidence if possible of the event.

Another concern when in the presence of a UFO is a story. Try to remember every detail of what you did before, during, and after you see a UFO. For example, say you are in the forest nearby a remote area. Out of nowhere, a strange orb of light appears from yonder in the hills not far from your stand point. The figure appears to hover and radiate light without making a sound. Writing down can be the difference between a credible story, and a loony claim from an unreliable person. Writing down can also make people take you seriously and see that you were prepared and knew how to handle the situation. In the example, the person was hiking in the forest around 7 p.m. and hiked North near a river. He would be able to jot down this information and provide notes for later on. He uses estimation to say the UFO was about 300 yards in front of him due north-east and hovering near the lake about 1,000 feet of the ground. After the encounter, he goes back down the trail, gets in his car and calls the police to file a UFO sighting.

With the information recorded, he would be able to remember more clearly what he had seen that day, and not be swayed by other information. And last but not least, the final important thing to do if you see a UFO is question every aspect of it. If you see a light while walking down the street one day in a dark neighborhood, don’t assume it’s a UFO. Use logical reasoning and doubt. First observe the UFO, think of possibilities such as if it’s a plane, jet, car, aircraft flair, and so on. Use

The best UFO hunters – Part 2

By admin On July 28th, 2009

The best UFO Hunters would have to be right now in our modern time. Simply The UFO Hunters

the television show from The History Channel. Recently going thru a battle with sci-fi channel

because they to named a show The UFO Hunters. It seems The History Channel has won that suit.

Due to the fact that I haven’t seen another sci fi based show since the pilot and there have

been alot of new shows on The History Channel. UFO Magazine one of the biggest ufo mags on the face of the planet sponsors the show and it’s lead creator runs the show. Going to famous hot spots across the world. Shows have included police officers interviewed who have seen odd circumstances involving ufos and received ridicule from the public for doing so. The show brings in the hard balls to scrape thru terrain to look for hard evidence. Shows have included also The Betty and Barney Hill case and evidence from the case unearthed restudied. We have also seen people claiming to have alien artifacts in their skin have them surgically removed. One object taken out jumped around and avoided the scapel at all costs with a bizarre intelligence.

Certainly this show is making and breaking new grounds when it comes to this phenomena that

so many have scoffed at over the years. Cases involving military personnel have been studied

as well. Ufos dropping debris into the ocean and on the sea shore in one city where the debris killed a man’s dog and ruined his boat. Loving the professionalism of the show I must say

these are the true UFO Hunters going out to the sites and simply declaring Hoax or History? Coming on every night at Wednesday you will find me glued to the television. It actually happens to be the only show I watch these days. We can only hope this show has many seasons

of showing veteran ufo hunters on the prowl and that each new case they crack open brings

shock to the masses. The best ufo hunters I have seen yet to this day besides the one you can find in the books and documentaries. Who all should be recognized for bringing light to these strange mysteries. We can only hope this show is putting those in the government on their tip

toes regarding universal truths they seem to deem we aren’t worthy enough to receive.

With the recent media presence of Ufo sightings being shown on CNN and many other stations.

One must wonder if indeed The History Channel is prepping us for something bigger at hand

that maybe approaching regarding our galactic citizenship in this universe. Are beings from

other worlds prepping us for more to come? Or better yet is our government allowing these

shows to be on the media and the networks to come forth for a bigger evolved reason? President

Clinton was wrote in a top secret document that the number reason ufo info was not coming thru

to the masses was simply put fundamentalist christians. The reason why that they would perhaps

riot and think it was truely doomsday if the truth were let out about the true origins of

earth and our universe and it’s visitors and inhabitants. It is time for change hopefully

these UFO Hunters will give a kick and a punch to the door of secrecy to knock it wide open.
